The author examines the problems and rewards of calling people forward in public commitment. It is vital, he argues, in enabling people both to seek and to confess Christ, and should be a regular part of the ministry of the Church today. Preferring the term 'public pledge', he considers the evidence in favour of this practice and explains candidly how he has changed his own standpoint to one of support.
